David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, and Deb Delisle, assistant secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education, will give remarks on equity and closing the achievement gap from a national perspective at the California Statewide 2014 Professional Development Summit at 12:15 p.m. PT on Thursday, March 13, in Sacramento, Calif.
They will be keynote speakers on the panel: "Equity, Access and Excellence: A Response from the White House and U.S. Department of Education."
The summit is being sponsored by the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators and 10 other California agencies that focus on education and equity. Its goal is to address solutions to academic and social challenges facing minority and other underserved students in California and the nation.
