Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for innovation and improvement, will co-lead a discussion on the policy considerations of extended learning time at the Wallace Foundation’s Reimagining the School Day: A Forum On More Time For Learning, at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, in Washington, D.C. The forum brings together some 75 leading educators, policymakers and other nationally known thought leaders in K-12 education to examine whether, and how, the nation could move beyond the conventional six-hour, 180-day school year to a more flexible system that provides students with additional learning opportunities.
