Marco Davis, deputy director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, will participate in the Latinos in Tech Innovation and Social Media Conference (LATISM 15) in Washington, D.C., at 4:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Davis will lead a workshop on parent and family engagement during the Latino Youth Summit at LATISM 15. He will provide information on family rights and opportunities to engage with schools, ways families can seek greater equity and excellence in education, foster awareness about STEM fields, and promote a culture of high academic expectation. He will also share information about resources available from the U.S. Department of Education, such as the Parent Checklist released earlier this year.
LATISM is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing the social, civic and economic status of the Latino community through technology innovation and social media. This is their seventh national convention and this year's theme will be: "Igniting Latinos to Drive the Innovation Economy." You can also follow updates of the conference on Twitter via #LATISM15
