U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will address the CIA Foreign Language Summit Wednesday at the Marriott Inn & Conference Center, University of Maryland University College in Hyattsville, Md. More than 300 foreign language educators are expected.
Duncan will stress the importance of foreign language instruction to America's economic and strategic interests. The CIA is hosting the summit to highlight the value of foreign language education to the nation and to encourage America's educators to find innovative ways to teach languages — especially, those less commonly taught in American classrooms like Mandarin Chinese, Hindi and Arabic.
