U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Russlynn Ali will deliver remarks at the College Board’s annual conference at 8 a.m. ET on Tuesday, April 12, in Philadelphia, Pa. This year’s conference theme focuses on “A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education.” Ali will discuss the impact of the achievement gap on minority students, the initiatives the department has put in place to help close it, and the reinvigorated role of the department's Office for Civil Rights. The event brings together educators from around the country to highlight opportunities and address challenges to improve education for African American students. The College Board seeks to ensure that every student in the United States has access to a high quality education and is prepared to succeed in college.
