Executive Director Alejandra Ceja will give remarks at the SJ/SV 2020 Symposium titled "Closing the Achievement Gap" on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8:30 a.m., in San Jose. She will discuss the next steps in improving the academic achievement of Latino students.
The SJ/SV 2020 is a joint effort between education partners, school districts, community organizations and business leaders to eliminate the achievement gap by 2020. The symposium will be an action-oriented day for district leaders working to eliminate the achievement gap by creating high achieving districts.
The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics is tasked with expanding academic excellence and improving educational opportunities for Hispanics by making recommendations to President Obama and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.
