David Johns, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans (WHIEEAA), will give closing remarks at a summit titled "Aligning for Black Excellence in Higher Education" on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the University of Southern California (USC). Johns will discuss his role in helping to improve African-American student achievement by working across federal agencies and communities, as well as important factors that contribute to the overall academic success of black college students. In addition, Johns will discuss strategies that support, motivate and empower students to be successful in college and help fulfill President Obama's goal of America leading the world in the proportion of college graduates by 2020.
