U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Melody Barnes, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council, will take part in United Way Worldwide’s National Education Town Hall at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, at Trinity Washington University. The two will be interviewed by the event moderator, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, followed by a question-and-answer session. The town hall audience will include students, teachers, nonprofit and business leaders, and education advocates.

During the town hall, United Way will unveil a report, entitled "Voices for the Common Good: America Speaks out on Education." The report will summarize a collection of findings from a listening tour of communities across the country, focus groups and a national survey on the U.S. education system. United Way Worldwide and partners will announce a major commitment to education in response to report findings.
