Education Department Senior Official to Discuss State of STEM Education at Institute for Competitive Workforce Panel

Michael Lach, special assistant for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, will discuss the state of STEM education and its importance to the economy during a panel organized by the Institute for a Competitive Workforce (ICW), a non-profit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13. The event will be held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.

At the event, ICW will unveil a new report on STEM education titled "Strengthening the STEM of Our Workforce." The report will address what needs to be done to strengthen the quality of STEM education in the United States and what kind of leadership will be required on the part of the business community to make it happen.
