Education Department Senior Official to Discuss Reform Efforts with Omaha Community Leaders

Alberto Retana, director of community outreach for the U.S. Department of Education, will hold roundtable discussions with local leaders in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday and Friday, April 14 and 15. Through a series of site visits and meetings, Retana will update city leaders on the Department’s efforts to drive reform, encourage courageous action on the part of the community leaders and learn about the innovative efforts taking place in Omaha to close the achievement gap. Retana will meet with several education stakeholders, including members of the Urban League and Latino community.
