Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Catherine E. Lhamon will deliver keynote remarks at the National Organization for Victim Assistance’s (NOVA) Annual Training Event on Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Atlanta, Georgia. This year, the event will highlight best practices in sexual assault prevention and response on college campuses. Lhamon will discuss sex discrimination at both the K-12 and postsecondary levels, with an emphasis on the Office for Civil Rights’ work to enforce Title IX.

NOVA’s mission is to champion dignity and compassion for those harmed by crime and crisis. It is the oldest national victim assistance organization of its type in the United States. Nearly 1,000 victim assistance professionals are expected to attend the event, including both military and civilian victim advocates and other allied professionals, such as judges, lawyers, social workers and other first responders.
