U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning Libby Doggett and the Office of Special Education Programs Acting Director Ruth Ryder will lead several sessions at the 2016 National Early Childhood Inclusion Institute on May 10 and 11 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Doggett and Ryder will discuss policies and initiatives to increase the inclusion of young children with disabilities in high-quality early learning programs.
On Tuesday, May 10, at 2:45 p.m. ET, they will serve as panelists on the Federal Panel on Early Childhood Policies and Initiatives and Implications for Enhancing the Quality of Inclusive Services. On Wednesday, May 11, at 9 a.m. ET, they will be co-presenters on Pay For Success: An Innovative and Promising Financing Model in Expanding High Quality Preschool Programs.
At 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, they will participate in a listening session on Federal Policy Statement on Family Engagement, a joint policy statement recently released from the U.S. Departments of Education (ED) and Health and Human Services (HHS) highlighting the implementation of effective family engagement practices from the early years to the early grades. At 1:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, they will participate in the Federal Listening Session: Inclusion Policy Statement on the ED/HHS Inclusion in Early Childhood Programs policy statement.
The Inclusion Institute, presented by the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute brings together experts from all early childhood sectors to learn, share and problem-solve about inclusion for young children.
