U.S. Deputy Under Secretary Jamienne Studley will join U.S. Reps. John Garamendi and Ami Bera in a roundtable discussion at UC-Davis on the Administration's proposals to address rising college costs and make college more affordable for American families.
It will take place at 10 a.m., PT, on Monday, Dec. 16. A media availability will follow at its conclusion.Announced last August by the President, the proposal includes developing a college rating system that provides useful data for students to compare and select colleges, while also encouraging institutions to improve. The roundtable is part of the Administration’s extensive public outreach effort to gather input and feedback on the Department's plan—especially the rating system—and to hear additional ideas for promoting college access, affordability, and outcomes. Last month the Department hosted four public forums around the country to hear ideas about the proposal and has been holding numerous meetings and small group discussions to hear additional suggestions and concerns.
Students, parents, faculty, college administrations, and education advocates are expected to attend the UC-Davis roundtable on Monday.
