Deputy Secretary Jim Shelton will give remarks at the 2014 Ed Tech Summit: "Empowering Educators to Enhance Student Learning in the Digital Era," on Monday, Sept. 29 in Washington, D.C. Shelton will discuss the need, challenge and opportunity for professional development of America's teachers as the digital learning revolution takes hold in K-12 schools. Some of the topics he will address are Connected Educator Month, the ConnectED Initiative and the Future Ready Pledge taken by districts across the country committed to providing connectivity and personalized learning for America's students.

This year's summit will focus on training and supporting teachers to succeed in a networked learning environment and provide an update on efforts to wire America's classrooms.
