Marco Davis, deputy director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics (WHIEEH), will give the keynote address at the Hispanic National Bar Foundation Annual Awards Dinner at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, in Washington, D.C. The event acknowledges the outstanding achievements and contributions of Latinos in the legal profession who advance the foundation’s mission to help Latino students achieve their potential through access to higher education.
Davis will discuss WHIEEH’s goals and activities, and the value that education provides in increasing equity and opportunity for all. In addition, he will highlight the Administration’s education agenda that includes the proposed new initiative, Race to the Top-Equity and Opportunity. This grant program would create incentives for states and school districts to drive comprehensive change in how they identify and close opportunity and achievement gaps.
