Deputy Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans to Give Remarks at Tuskegee University Scholarship Event in Washington, D.C.

Khalilah Harris, deputy director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans, will give remarks at the 32nd annual Luther H. Foster Scholarship Breakfast hosted by the Washington, D.C. Tuskegee University Alumni Club on Saturday, Oct. 3, in Washington, D.C. She will discuss the Initiative's work to accelerate educational excellence among students, including African Americans, and the President's goal of having the largest percentage of graduates by the year 2020. In addition, Harris will highlight Tuskegee's long legacy in supporting and advocating for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs for students and professionals of color. Harris will join Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), who is keynoting the breakfast.

This event celebrates the life and legacy of Foster, who was president of Tuskegee, a historically black college in Tuskegee, Alabama, from 1953 to 1981.
