U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning Libby Doggett will visit the facilities of the Child and Family Network Center (CFNC) to tour a preschool and ESL classroom on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013. During her visit she will meet with educators and local officials to discuss the importance of high quality early learning opportunities. Doggett will discuss the President’s Preschool for All proposal to provide children with a strong start in their education and opportunity to succeed in college and careers.
The Child & Family Network Centers offers a unique model of free, highly-accredited preschool and intensive family services to 3- and 4-year olds and their families living at or below 185 percent of the poverty line throughout Alexandria. CFNC operates 10 classrooms and currently serves 159 children and their families in Alexandria’s poorest neighborhoods.
