Department Leaders to Discuss Role of Faith-Based Partnerships in Education During Auxiliaries in Ministry Convention

Deputy Secretary of Education Tony Miller and Brenda Girton-Mitchell, director of the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, will address more than 30,000 officials, bishops, community leaders and delegates at the International Auxiliaries In Ministry Convention (AIM), the annual summer convention of the multi-million member Church Of God In Christ, in Houston on Thursday, July 7.

In the afternoon, Miller will speak during a breakout meeting titled "Effective 21st Century Ministry: Utilizing Government Resources to Expand Ministry and Stabilize Communities" from 2:20-2:40 p.m. Miller will also address the group to discuss the role of partnerships in advancing education reform during the general session at 7 p.m.

Girton-Mitchell will deliver the keynote at the Young Women of Excellence session at 10 a.m. and participate in a panel from 2:45-3:40 p.m. during the effective ministry and resource session. All of these activities will take place in the George Brown Convention Center.
