John King, senior advisor delegated duties of deputy secretary of education, will visit San Francisco State University (SFSU) on Tuesday, Oct. 20, for a roundtable discussion with undocumented students and a media availability to discuss new resources to help ensure all students – no matter where they were born – can be successful in college, careers and beyond.
King will be joined by Mariela Melero, associate director of customer service and public engagement directorate from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), as well as advocates and leaders from across the Bay Area, leaders from SFSU and other local institutions.
SFSU is a leader in supporting the success of undocumented youth. The university has advisers to help undocumented students successfully navigate financial aid options and other university resources, as well as a task force of faculty, staff and students dedicated to supporting the academic, professional and personal success of undocumented students and prospective students.
