Russlynn Ali, assistant secretary for the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), will address the National Federation of the Blind's 2011 Jacobus tenBroek Disability Law Symposium Friday in Baltimore, Md. Ali will discuss disability rights in education and the progress that has been made by OCR in addressing disability issues and equal access to education.
Attendees will include law professors, practitioners and advocates who will discuss issues such as translating what worked for the civil rights movements to the disability rights movement; how to portray disability to judge and jury; disability rights as constitutional rights; and the effect of diversity in the disability rights movement on court decisions.
