Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Russlynn Ali will deliver opening remarks at a two-day conference on civil rights and school discipline, co-sponsored by the U.S. Education Department's Office for Civil Rights and the U.S. Justice Department, Wednesday in San Francisco.

School administrators, student support services staff and teachers attending the forum will hear about successful approaches to address student behavior in diverse communities while keeping students engaged in the classroom.

This is the second of two conferences sponsored by the Education and Justice departments focusing on disparate discipline of minority students. The earlier conference was held in September in Washington, D.C.
