Assistant Secretary Dann-Messier to Address National Conference on Education, Jobs

Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier, who heads the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will address the National Conference on Integrated Basic Skills Pathways Wednesday in Seattle. The event, organized by Jobs for the Future, will bring together more than 200 people, including state leaders and coordinators from adult basic education systems, community colleges, workforce development agencies, foundations, as well as key stakeholders and partners from the National College Transitions Network, Washington State Board for Community & Technical Colleges and the National Council of Workforce Education.

Dann-Messier will discuss the Education Department's investment in adult basic education, career and technical education and the new Career Pathways initiative. As assistant secretary, Dann-Messier administers the department's programs in adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education.
