Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier to Give Keynote Remarks at New Jersey Statewide Career and Technical Education Conference

U.S. Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education Brenda Dann-Messier will deliver keynote remarks at the New Jersey Statewide Career and Technical Education Conference on Wednesday, May 22 in Ewing, N.J. She will address the current state of students’ readiness for college and careers, national goals for career readiness, and the steps being taken at the federal level to meet those goals. She will leave participants with a charge for continuing their momentum in developing high-quality career and technical education programs for all students in New Jersey.

Dann-Messier administers the Education Department's programs on adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education.

The theme of the conference is "The Power of Career and Technical Education: Propelling Students to College and Career Readiness." The conference will be held at The College of New Jersey, a highly selective institution with a mission to keep New Jersey's most talented students in-state for higher education. The college is recognized as one of the best public institutions in the United States, and is consistently ranked as the number one public institution in New Jersey, known for its programs in business, education, engineering, humanities, nursing and science.
