Assistant Deputy Secretary to Participate in a Panel in New Orleans on Teaching

Nadya Dabby, the U.S. Department of Education's assistant deputy secretary for innovation and improvement, will participate in the opening plenary panel discussion on supporting educator leadership and ways to lift up the teaching profession at the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching conference in New Orleans on Friday, March 18. Dabby will discuss the Obama Administration's work to support educators. In addition, she will emphasize the opportunity, presented by the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), to expand equity and opportunity in education, and the essential role educators must play in making sure that the new law fulfills its potential to improve educational outcomes for all students.

The National Institute for Excellence in Teaching conference begins on Friday and will run through Saturday, March 19. It will bring together educators, policymakers, researchers and other influential leaders to discuss how to strengthen teaching instruction and boost student achievement.
