Acting U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. will give remarks at the National League of Cities’ Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C., on Monday, March 7. Addressing the Mayors’ Education Task Force, he will discuss the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and how mayors and other city leaders can partner with school districts to improve educational equity and excellence for all students. He will also highlight the Obama Administration’s work to lift up the teaching profession and improve college completion rates.

The conference will begin on Saturday, March 5, and continue through Wednesday, March 9. It will bring together elected and appointed city leaders to focus on the federal policy issues that are important to local governments.
