Juan Sepúlveda, executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, will join Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other leaders at 10 a.m. PT on Wednesday, Aug. 10, to celebrate Club Digital, a comprehensive Internet bilingual digital literacy program, which launched Aug. 1 throughout California. Club Digital is a public/private collaboration of impreMedia, a publishing and media company that provides Hispanic news and information online and in print. In early 2012, Club Digital will expand to reach more than nine million Hispanics nationally, providing free lessons on basic Internet skills to help Hispanics access online information about a range of topics, including education, financial aid for students, job listings, and health care. Sepúlveda will discuss the importance of closing the digital divide for Latino families and the work of the White House Initiative to help raise the rates of Latino school completion.
