U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will deliver keynote remarks at the National Council for the Social Studies’ (NCSS) 91st Annual Conference on Friday, Dec. 2 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. During his remarks, Duncan will highlight why the social studies are essential to a well-rounded education and then take questions from teachers and school administrators in the audience.
NCSS is the professional social studies organization for approximately 20,000 social studies educators in the U.S. and abroad, and its annual conference attracts more than 3,500 participants. The three-day professional development event includes more than 400 educational sessions for teachers in all social studies subjects at all grade levels. This year's conference theme is “Dimensions of Diversity.”
