Education Leaders To Hold a Press Call on Lessons Learned and Best Practices Shared and Participate in Closing Session of Second International Summit on the Teaching Profession

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, OECD Deputy Secretary General Yves Leterme and EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen will join other key hosts of the Second International Summit on the Teaching Profession for a press conference call with a question and answer session today, March 15 at 3 p.m. ET. Following the press conference call at 3:30 p.m. ET, Duncan, Leterme, van Leeuwen and Professor of International Education Fernando Reimers of Harvard University will hold the closing session, which is open to press and accessible via live webcast at http://media.rampard.com/cotl/20120314/doe/. The March summit is part of an ongoing international dialogue on best practices in both teaching and learning. In the weeks following the summit, Asia Society will lead host organizations in publishing a summary paper to publicly document insights shared and lessons learned.

Note: During the closing session, each participating country and region will give a brief closing statement. Before concluding the Summit, Netherlands’ State Secretary for Education of Culture and Science Halbe Zijlstra will give a short presentation to preview the 2013 Summit scheduled to take place in Amsterdam.
