Jim Shelton, the Education Department’s assistant deputy secretary for Innovation and Improvement, will discuss the federal Promise Neighborhoods program on a panel at the 65th Education Writers Association (EWA) national seminar at 3:55 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 17, in Philadelphia.
Shelton is one of four speakers on a panel entitled, “Covering ‘Collective Impact’ and its Link to Education,” which will examine programs that reach beyond academics to ensure that families get the services they need for children to arrive at school ready to learn. This year’s EWA national seminar, which is professional development for journalists who cover education, is "Learning from Leaders: What Works for Stories and Schools."
