Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Education and Rehabilitative Services Sue Swenson will participate on a federal panel at the Association of University Centers on Disability’s (AUCD) 40th Anniversary meeting at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va., at 8:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Swenson will appear with other Obama Administration officials who oversee many of the disability programs and will discuss current challenges, directions and initiatives that affect the work of the AUCD network.

The panel is entitled “The Journey Continues: Where We’ve Been,” and will reflect on some of the history, events, and people that led to the many accomplishments that have promoted equity and excellence for individuals with disabilities. Each panelist will describe a significant issue, idea, or challenge that will affect the future direction of the network and will imagine what the AUCD network will be like 40 years from now. The session will provide network members the opportunity to hear from federal officials and to ask questions about program activities.
