Deputy Assistant Secretary for Rural Outreach John White will participate in a roundtable and give the keynote address at the Wisconsin Schools Rural Alliance Conference (WiRSA) on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Stoney Creek Inn in Rothschild, Wis. At 8 a.m., CT, White and Leah Lechleiter-Luke, a Teaching Ambassador at the Department, will participate in a roundtable discussion with K-12 school leaders and higher education partners about challenges and opportunities when preparing rural students for college and careers. During his keynote remarks at 9 a.m. CT, White will provide an overview of the Obama Administration's rural initiatives, share proposals for the near future, and provide examples of collaboration between rural school districts.
WiRSA was formed to help rural school districts address the unique issues that affect rural schools as they seek to achieve a high quality education for every student. WiRSA holds an annual conference so rural school educators and interested others can network, collaborate and learn from each other.
