Civil Rights Assistant Secretary to Discuss Title IX Issues at Annual Meeting of Association of American Law Schools

Russlynn Ali, assistant secretary for the Office for Civil Rights, will discuss Title IX issues pertaining to athletic opportunity, single sex classes, and bullying/harassment in remarks at the 2012 annual meeting of the Association of American Law Schools Thursday at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Ali will participate in a session entitled, “Taking Stock at Title IX's 40th Anniversary: Athletics, Single-Sex Education, and Bullying/Harassment.”

As assistant secretary, Ali's Office for Civil Rights enforces laws aimed at ensuring that the nation's schools receiving federal funding refrain from discriminatory conduct related to race, sex, disability or age.
