Eduardo Ochoa, U.S. assistant secretary for Postsecondary Education, will give remarks at a Capitol Hill briefing entitled “College Completion with Equity: Metro Academies as a National Model,” at Noon ET on Thursday, March 1, in Washington, D.C. Metro Academies, a partnership between San Francisco State University and City College of San Francisco, has been successful in closing the gap in college persistence for students who are first-generation, low-income, and/or under-represented. The briefing will include a panel discussion on the Metro Academy model and bringing it to scale to help meet President Obama’s goal of the U.S. once again being first in the world in college completion by the year 2020.
