Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education Deb Delisle will give remarks on Friday, Feb. 22, at the American Association of School Administrators’ (AASA) National Conference on Education in Los Angeles. During the session, “Tomorrow is Too Late: What Our Students Need from Us Today,” Delisle will highlight the importance of education reform for meeting the needs of today’s students and preparing them for the 21st-century global economy. Additionally, she will give an overview of the Department’s efforts to support school turnarounds, including the $4 billion in Title I School Improvement Grants awarded to states to turn around their lowest-performing schools.
The three-day conference, which runs today through Saturday, Feb. 23, will focus on four major themes: common core standards and assessments, teacher and principal evaluations, preparing students for college and careers, and social media in schools. The American Association of School Administrators is an advocacy organization made up of more than 13,000 education leaders in the United States and throughout the world.
