Assistant Secretary Dann-Messier to Visit Colorado, Discussing Education Reform, Jobs

Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier, who heads the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will travel to Colorado Monday and Tuesday where she will visit community colleges and a high school, holding roundtable discussions with students, educators and business representatives on the topic of education reform and jobs.

Dann-Messier will tour schools in Sterling, Fort Morgan, Greeley and Fort Collins, spotlighting the Administration's blueprint for transforming career and technical education by reauthorizing the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006. She will also discuss the workforce development strategy known as career pathways, enabling students to transition from education into the workforce.

As assistant secretary, Dann-Messier administers the Education Department's programs in adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education.
