Brenda Dann-Messier, assistant secretary for the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will discuss education and the economy during her keynote remarks at the National Conference on Effective Transitions in Adult Education on Thursday, Nov. 8, in Providence, R.I.
The theme of the conference is "Promoting College and Career Readiness for Adults," and will highlight issues that confront adult education and postsecondary education administrators as well as students and teachers. The conference will attract more than 500 attendees from 42 states, representing postsecondary institutions, school districts, community based organizations, and at least 200,000 adult students.
As assistant secretary, Dann-Messier leads the Education Department's efforts in adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education.
