Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier, who heads the Office of Vocational and Adult Education, will address the "New Hampshire Pathways to Success: Connecting Manufacturing to Education" conference Thursday at Nashua Community College in Nashua, N.H.
Dann-Messier will discuss the administration’s proposal for reauthorizing the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The Perkins Act is the principal source of federal funding for America’s career and technical education programs. She will highlight the proposal’s four core principles and its nine proposed reforms.
On hand for the conference will be New Hampshire business, education and elected leaders, focused on helping better prepare young people to enter careers in manufacturing in the Granite State.
As assistant secretary, Dann-Messier leads the Education Department's efforts in adult, career and technical education, as well as community colleges and correctional education.
