Assistant Secretary Brenda Dann-Messier to Address Equity in Education as Panelist at the National Immigrant Integration Conference

Assistant Secretary for Vocational and Adult Education Brenda Dann-Messier will discuss educational opportunities and adult education as the featured panelist at the National Immigrant Integration Conference in Baltimore on Monday, Sept. 24. The panel is titled "Pathways to the Dream: Ensuring that Adult Education and Community College Programs Meet the Needs of Immigrants and their Children." It will cover a range of topics facing immigrant youth and adults and their ability to access adult education and community college programs that help them gain the language skills, education and training they need to succeed in the workforce.

The conference will focus on empowering immigrants to build stronger, healthier communities, and will address the political process, religious institutions and commercial resources.

Dann-Messier leads the Department's efforts in adult education and career and technical education, as well as efforts supporting community colleges and correctional education.
