U.S. Assistant Secretary for the Office of Vocational and Adult and Education (OVAE) Brenda Dann-Messier will join local school officials and legislators in Toledo on Tuesday, Sept. 6 as part of a series of events across the Great Lakes region that will highlight the role education plays in boosting the American economy. At 3 p.m., Dann-Messier will visit the University of Toledo Innovation Center to discuss career and technical education. Dann-Messier's visit comes in advance of U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan’s trip to Toledo on Wednesday, Sept. 7. During the visit, Duncan will meet with local union leaders at the Federation of Teachers Union Hall.
Education officials are holding various events discussing education reforms and innovations that are providing students of all ages with the knowledge and skills they need to be part of a well-educated workforce in the growing global economy.
