Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education Michael Yudin will deliver remarks during the National Title I Conference on Saturday, Jan. 21 in Seattle, Wash. During his remarks, Yudin will discuss the Department’s efforts to grant states more flexibility in dealing with the requirements of No Child Left Behind. In the fall of 2011, the Department invited states to request flexibility in exchange for a strong commitment to core reforms that boost student achievement.
The National Title I conference draws approximately 3,000 Title I practitioners from across the country, most of whom are administrators at the district or school level. This year’s three-day conference will enable participants to interact with Department staff, national experts on family and community engagement, curriculum experts in math and language arts, district and local education practitioners, and education program researchers.
