Yesterday Secretary Duncan appeared on “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” with Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, and Michelle Rhee, chancellor of the District of Columbia Public Schools.
They discussed the need to recognize great teaching, reward excellence, reduce the high school dropout rate, make sure every graduate is college- and career-ready, get great teachers into classrooms where students need the most help, elevate the teaching profession, and more.
“Great teachers are the unsung heroes in our society,” Secretary Duncan said. “They perform miracles every single day.”
