If you’re interested in education innovations, tune in this morning at 9 AM EDT to a webcast where Secretary Duncan will brief school district superintendents and non-profit organization leaders on the Education Department’s “Investing in Innovation Fund,” also known as the “i3 Fund.” In his remarks, the Secretary will spotlight the impact that innovations have had on education, discuss what “innovation” means to the Obama administration. He will explain how the unprecedented $650 million i3 Fund will support that vision and will identify the innovations driving the next generation of education reforms. He’ll be joined by Jim Shelton, deputy assistant secretary for innovation and improvement.
In the coming weeks, the Department will be releasing for public comment the criteria for this new grant program. Schools districts and nonprofits will be asked to partner on i3 applications.
